Ask anyone what they need to clean before handing over a house and you will get the same answer: kitchen, bathrooms, floors. Nobody forgets those. One: the garage

What gets checked: the slab itself, including oil marks and paint drips, cobwebs in the corners and along the rafters, the interior side of the garage door, dust on the water heater platform and shelving, and whatever is in the built in cabinets. Leaf litter that blew in and settled against the back wall counts too.
This is also the space people run out of energy for, because it is the last thing between them and driving away.
Two: the pull down attic stairs
Almost every Flower Mound home has one, almost nobody opens it during a move except to check that it is empty, and almost nobody cleans it. The frame collects insulation fibers, the hinge collects grime, and the ceiling around the opening usually has fingerprints from the last five times someone yanked the cord.

Three: the back patio and the outdoor living space

Pollen, spider webs in the ceiling fan, grill grease on the stone, a layer of grit on the sliding door track and cobwebs in the corners of the covered ceiling are all standard, all visible, and all easy to miss because you stopped noticing them years ago.

- The laundry room shelf above the washer, which holds a year of lint
- Behind and underneath the washer and dryer if they are leaving with you
- The water softener closet and the space around the water heater
- The mud room bench and locker cubbies, which hold more dirt than anything else in the house
- The area behind the refrigerator once it rolls out, which nobody has seen since installation
- The garage door tracks and the interior of the exterior storm doors
Why this list matters more than the kitchen
Because you will clean the kitchen. Everybody does. The kitchen is where cleaning energy goes first and it is usually fine. The deduction, the walkthrough request or the awkward text message from the buyer agent comes from the spaces that nobody planned for and nobody had time for at seven in the evening on moving day.
