The four materials that cause the most damage
Marble and other calcium based stone
Marble, travertine and limestone react to acid. That includes vinegar, lemon, most bathroom descalers and a surprising number of products marketed as all purpose. The reaction is an etch, which is not a stain and does not come off. It is a dull patch in the polish and the only fix is professional refinishing. On a marble primary bathroom, one wrong bottle can cost more than the entire move.
Unlacquered brass and antique hardware
Unlacquered brass is supposed to develop a patina. It is chosen precisely for that. Aggressive polishing strips it back to raw metal and undoes decades of it in an afternoon, and the homeowner or the buyer notices immediately. These pieces get a gentle wipe and nothing more unless we are specifically asked.
Original hardwood with a wax or oil finish
Older Park Cities homes often have floors that were never converted to polyurethane. Water sitting on a waxed floor lifts and clouds the finish, and standard floor cleaners strip it. These floors need minimal moisture and the right product, applied by someone who knows the difference by looking.
Hand glazed and cement tile
Beautiful, porous and unforgiving. Harsh cleaners pull colour out of the glaze and cement tile absorbs anything acidic straight into the body of the tile.
The rest of the job is still the whole job
Material care does not replace thoroughness, it sits on top of it. A Park Cities move out clean still means the oven interior, the inside of every cabinet and drawer, the butler pantry, the wine room, the refrigerator seals, the shower door tracks, the exhaust fans, the ceiling fan blades, every baseboard and every window track. These homes simply have more of all of it, often over three floors, frequently with a separate quarters over the garage.
Discretion, staff and access
Many of the homes we clean here have household staff, agents, stagers or family members coming and going during a move. Our crews work around other people quietly, follow whatever access arrangement you already have in place, and do not handle personal belongings. If a family member or an estate manager is coordinating remotely, we send photographs of every room when we finish.
